INSIDE THE BOOK

About this book

As computing shifts toward parallel architectures and GPU acceleration, traditional approaches to data structures and algorithms must evolve. This book dives into the challenges and opportunities of modern computing, introducing readers to WebGPU and WGSL as tools for high-performance rendering and computation. Learn how to adapt classic structures like trees, graphs, and queues for parallel execution, and explore how algorithms behave in massively concurrent environments. Ideal for developers, researchers, and students aiming to stay ahead in the computing landscape.

Better than I expected

I have read a lot of books on this subject and this is the clearest.

This is the third book I have read on algorithms this year, and it is comfortably the best of them. The author avoids over-explaining, which keeps the pace up but means you need to pay attention. There is a section near the end that ties several earlier ideas together in a way I had not seen before. This is the book I wish had existed when I started working with algorithms.

Exactly what I was looking for

Exactly the book I needed. Straight to the point and genuinely useful.

There is a particular kind of technical book that is dense without being difficult, and this is one of them. The examples are small enough to type out and experiment with, which is exactly what I want from a book like this. The examples are small enough to type out and experiment with, which is exactly what I want from a book like this. Some of the diagrams are dense and I had to reread a few sections, though that may just be me. One of those books that pays for itself within the first few chapters. Highly recommended.

Almost excellent

A worthwhile addition to my shelf, with realistic expectations.

I was looking for something that would bridge the gap between tutorials and proper reference material, and this does that well. The progression from chapter to chapter is well thought out; nothing feels out of order. I particularly liked the way the author builds up from simple cases before introducing the harder material. The examples are small enough to type out and experiment with, which is exactly what I want from a book like this. Recommended, with the caveat that it is not a gentle introduction.

Hey everyone, I had a playtester complete almost an entire run of a traditional turn-based roguelike, dying just one floor before the final boss. 😬 I noticed their run took a little over an hour. It got me thinking about what peo…
